Socrates Cafe Reflection

My class discussion was on Socrates. This talk did really good to me. The reason for this was because I got to see other peoples views in knowledge, moderation, fairness, and bravery/courage. I found it sort of funny when people would argue over what they thought was right. If i could add another topic i would add trustworthiness, I agreed with Candus because you basically need trust in order to have all the four topics. Trust to me is very important because you need it everywhere, if you had a friend i bet you would want to be able to trust them right so this is the reason that i would add trustworthiness to the list.

Bleaching Skin in Mali

The article I read was about women bleaching their skin in Mali. When women would bleach themselves they would not look good. In a way they looked pallid because it wasn't their real color. A lot of these products came from The United States, Nigeria, Morocco, or Saudi Arabia. These products can cause cancer and many other diseases. It's funny to me that they would do all these horrible things to themselves and still feel ebullient. Another reason for them doing this is because the women from Mali thought that men preferred light skinned women than dark skinned women. This article also talked about there being more than 100 products to bleach your skin. I think that bleached skin is not salubrious at all. I believe that bleaching your skin is a salacious act. If I were to bleach my skin i don't think that I would feel jovial afterwards.

Woman in Ancient Greece

1) Sparta would be better to live in rather than Athens. The reason for this opinion is because in Sparta you have alittle more freedom. I think that it was hard on the woman and easy for the men. In Athens the women can't even go outside their house to go visit other women, that to me is very mean and harsh. Just imagine being in your house all day everyday and just clean adn do whatever you need to do. I could not be able to live in Athens at all. In Sparta you had more freedom, for example the women were able to own land. The land doesn't have to be their husbands or anything so i liked that. Another good thing about Sparta is that you could go outside adn visit other people, you wouldn't have to stay inside your house the whole time. The main thing that women were known for was giving birth. That is basically what they did in Sparta and Athnes.

2) What I think towards the men and women being equal are that they weren't back then but i think that they should have been. The reason that the men were concidered higher than the women was because they have always been seen as the stronger sex or the bravest. I don't believe that at all. I also do not believe were equa, i think that the women are higher because if you really think about it the women go through everything. We go through pregnancy, periods, and lots more. I bet you if a men were to have babies they wouldn't make it through. Men have never experienced that kind of pain. Also i believe that women are wiser than men and the only reason i believe this is because we have never had a girl president or something like that and most people believe that we are not able to accomplish that and i totally think that is wrong. That is my opinion in men and women being equal.

3) Well the way i see it is that painters would paint women how they are. And the way that they were back then was just being home taking care of their children, probably being pregnate and cleaning the house. The way that painters would paint men would be how they are, wich is strong, brave and better than the woman.

1) My reactions to this video were that the media effects young girls and their self- esteme. Another thing that i thought about this video is that so many young girls see these commercials and they want to do what they see or be like who they see on t.v. I think that it is really sad for girls to see this. I also think that they shouldnt be these kind if commercials.

2) Well the message to the people fom this video are that they have to be or look this certain way. I dont think that, that is right because God made people a certain way but that also depends on the person, if they are not happy with themselvs well then they can use whatever the advertisement is but my main concern are the young girls. For example my teacher told me a story that he had heard on the radio. There was this girl and she had a friend, her friend was jeleous of her because of her body and she was really pretty. The girl made a myspace account but she was a guy. She added her friend and talked to her and started to create a relationship over the computer. One day the girl got home adn got on her computer, started talking to her friend wich was pretending to be this hot guy. Her friend sent her a message saying, "You are so ugly, i dont want to be wiht you anymore" and just really mean stuff. The girl couldn't take it and she hung herself. This story relates to the video because the girl thought she was ugly and i believe that you should like yourself the way you are.

I think that youth is very beautiful because what comes to my mid when i think about youth is people together and helping each other. I think that when people are united its beautiful because of what you see.

2. My thoughts about a “perfect” human are mostly their personality. A lot of people now believe that a perfect woman is going to have a nice body and a nice smile and all that stuff. Many women try to become that because that’s how our world thinks now. I don’t believe that you have to look like one of the models that you see in magazines or the hottest girl because you believe that you are pretty and perfect when you are like that. To me what a perfect woman looks like is to respect everyone around them, have consideration of others, be who they are and live life the way they want to live it. Of course there is always going to be woman that don’t appreciate life and don’t really care. That to me is not perfect. I also think that nobody can be perfect because everybody has their moments and I believe that humans are not supposed to be perfect because we are the way that God created us. Humans mess up all the time but we try not to and we try to make the most out of life. What I think is a perfect man would also be respectful to everybody and basically what I said about the woman. I think that men are supposed to be the guardians of their loved ones and always try to make things better. But like I said no one is perfect so just make the best out of life.

MUSIC

Music is a part of me! I can listen to everything. The songs that i like to listen to the most are love songs. I am in LOVE and music inspires me and makes me happy. Another reason I love music is because its a good way to express your feelings. It lets you show your feelings to one another. I think that without music in my life it wouldn't be the same and i would be missing something.

This picture represents my love for Mexico......this team is from Guadalajara Mexico and thats where my family is from. I have memories from when i was a little girl but in a way i don't really remember anything......When i grow up i want to go visit my family over there. I want to explore Guadalajara because its important to me and i believe it is very beautiful.

PREGNANCY

This picture represent pregnancy. Pregnancy inspires me very much because what comes to my mind when i think about pregnancy is a new life. This is important to me because i adore baby's and it's amazing to me how a woman can have a baby human inside her body. I believe that it is a great feeling and a mother must feel very special.
I also believe that abortion is NOT acceptable. When you do this horrible thing you are taking away a life and killing your own blood. IT'S WRONG!
